Did I tell you that I paint. I don't think I have. Watercolours and Pastels and I have sold quite a few at exhibition and have been commission to do several portraits. The rose amongst the photo's is one of my later paintings.
To be very honest though I haven't painted seriously for about 2 years or maybe longer. I started missing it recently so started to dig out all my brushes and paper and took them on holiday. I love watercolours and Pastels are so forgiving I love painting people and some landscapes with them.
Anyway, as it happened when I was demonstrating at the range there was also a really nice man demonstrating for Derwent. He was showing watercolour pencils. Unfortunately, I didn't get time to see the demonstration but I chatted afterwards.
He had demonstrated all over and new a lot of the painters that I had already seen in the past, and he was doing a private demonstration in my area in September and said to call if I wanted to go to watch. His wife and some other friends were also going.
His name was Tony Hogan so watch out for him.
Guess where I am going then 23rd September. I am looking forward to it. Funny how things turn out. I think Karma shows you opportunities whenever you want a push in a direction, and not so long ago I really wanted a push in the direction of Crafting and Painting.
See you soon.
Hi,
This is a pop up I made for my daughter using the fiskars shapecutters for the pop up and the embellishments. The instructions are on the fiskars website. http://www.fiskarscraft.co.uk/uk/gallery/view/gall246822/default.aspx It can be adapted for any use. Hope you love it.
Hi, I am back after a lovely holiday in Belgium. Raring to go again. The Wii is still getting a run for the money and although I am exercising a lot I have not actually lost any weight. I tried eating less and gained. So now I am eating more!! Yes more!! Apparently if I starve myself the body stores all the food it gets as fat in case you don't eat. So the more you eat the less it stores and the more it will burn off. I'll let you know how it goes.
Anyway, I though I would show you a little frame that I made from a small flower punch and a fiskers shapecutter template (hearts). It was cut out, coloured with flowers stuck on it and triple embossed to give it the shine. The stand is made from the same card cut in a strip and folded in quarters and then stuck on as a triangle. Hope you like it.
Hi,
I have been exercising daily and trying to regulate my eating and my weight is coming down. (although it sneaked up again today!!). My BMI has been coming down and my fitness age has ranged between 31 and 45 which is not bad for someone who is 48. I have discovered I am a Yoga Master and my balance is really good (except first thing in a morning)
Anyway the dates of the upcoming events have now changed, and are as follows.
2nd August The Range Rochdale,
9th August the Range Leeds
11th October Hobbycraft Leeds
19th October Hobbycraft at Meadowhall.
In an attempt to get fit, (my blood pressure is borderline) and lose weight, I got myself a Wii Fit. First I created a little Mii who looks just like me. I got weighed (obese) and did the BMI 35 yuk. I was then told that if you have a BMI of 22 you are less likely to get ill. Well for a start I am never ill.
However, I did some balance and stamina tests and was given a fitness age of 34. Not bad for an overweight 48 year old is it.
The games themselves are great fun and in the first 2 days I clocked up 1.5 hours of exercise in one form or another. I found out my balance was perfect being exactly in the centre and was proclaimed a Yoga Master because of my excellent balance. (Even though I have never done Yoga in my life). I think the reason my balance is so good is because I ride a motorbike most of the time. Well I call it a motorbike but it is actually a very large scooter. I take my other half out on it some days. He is braver than me as I would hate to be sat on the back.
Anyway hols looming and I have already lost 1lb towards my target weight. Do you think I can get thin in the next 2 days? No me neither.
Hi again, I am going on holiday on Wednesday. Sailing to Rotterdam and driving round Europe. No plans, just two weeks doing whatever comes to mind, or not as the case may be. All you need is a campervan and a tom tom.
Last year in 10 days we, my husband and I, visited 7 different countries and enjoyed glorious weather and views whilst England suffered floods.
This year I don't want to drive so much so I may not get as far. We have a bicycle each so we intend to settle somewhere nice and cycle round.
I only have to work Tuesday and thats it. I'll put some photo's on when I take some.
